Native Garden - Ōtautahi
Urbeco HQ is in Ōtautahi (Christchurch, New Zealand), and we have been planting our site with species local to the Canterbury Plains.
The list we started with was from Di Lucas’s work, on the indigenous ecosystems of Christchurch, see here.
The garden has moist, deep Kaiapoi soils, suited to Lucas’s ‘totara’ ecosystem. Even within our small site, there is variability in the conditions, so while the species are all local, they are not all strictly from the ‘totara’ list.
Carpodetus serratus

Coprosma virescens
